Bedouin Soundclash
After 3 Radio 1 Record Of The Week's for their breakthrough single 'When The Night Hears My Song' from album 'Sounding A Mosaic', and walking away with a Canadian Juno Award (equivalent to our Brits) as Best New Group, Canadian trio Bedouin Soundclash returned in 2007 with the follow up album 'Street Gospels' out on Aug 17th 2007 on Sideonedummy Records. Mixing reggase and dub influences with a noticeable ska/punk flair, the band performed three sold out tours of the UK in 2007, and launched their own label Pirates Blend, with planned releases from Vernon Buckley and the remix album Bad Brains vs Bedouin.

Dusty Rhodes & The River Band
One of only eight artists that the Los Angeles Times tipped for big things in 2008, Dusty Rhodes & The River Band are like a breath of fresh air. Mojo Magazine felt moved enough by their debut release, 'First You Live', out on Feb 18th 08, to call it "the freshest take on West Coast country since Gram in a nudie suit" whilst Q enthused they are "a rush of vibrant energy, and anything-goes psychedelia." Produced by Ikey Owens from the Mars Volta, First You Live is a mountain of a debut. Currently touring the States with Blind Melon, the band expect to tour the UK in March 08. Details to be announced shortly.
Gabriella Cilmi
It took one performance of her debut single 'Sweet About Me' to convince producer from BBC 2's flagship music show 'Later With Jools Holland' to take a chance on 16 year old newcomer Gabriella Cilmi, offering her the same slot that had propelled Corinne Bailey Rae and KT Tunstall to million-plus sales in previous years (the latter would perform on the same show as Gabriella on Dec 14th 07!). 'Sweet About Me' is released on 10th March 08 and flags a major new talent. With the vocal depth of Chrissie Hynde matching the pop fun of Cyndi Lauper, Gabriella's talents are already attracting big name syncs; she sings the theme to a major new TV drama, Echo Beach, and she is the only newcomer whose music features in the St Trinian's movie. Tours with Parisian musical collective Nouvelle Vague in February.
Gogol Bordello
Breaks don't come much bigger than the Queen Of Pop, Madonna, asking you to guest with her live in front of a global audience of 2 billion at Live Earth 08, such was Gogol Bordello's past year. The release of their new album 'Super Taranta!', the follow up to their breakthrough 2005 release 'Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike', proved the NYC immigrant collective were no flash-in-the-pan, with amazing reviews across the board. Aside from Live Earth, they toured the UK twice, and stole the show on Glastonbury Friday, and at Reading & Leeds and Beautiful Days. They'll be back 2008!

The Gutter Twins
Marking the 20th Anniversary of Seattle's Sub Pop label, veterans Greg Dulli (Afghan Whigs, The Twilight Singers) and Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees, QOTSA, Soulsavers) join forces for their debut collaborative album 'Saturnalia', out on March 3rd 2008. To coincide with the album release, the Gutter Twins play a one-city-stop tour including dates in New York, Paris, Amsterdam and hit London on Feb 21st with a very special performance at Camden's Koko Club. It will be the first chance fans will get to hear tracks from Saturnalia, with a very special encore planned. A full UK tour is being planned for late April 08.
Helen Boulding
The roll-call of help offered to Sheffield singer/songwriter Helen Boulding on her debut album release 'New Red Dress' reads like a Who's Who of rock royalty. Not only did Simon Tong (The Verve, The Good, The Bad & The Queen) co-write new tracks with Helen, legendary produced Youth produce the album, Bryan Adams shot the sleeve for the album, but Bryan Ferry took her on tour with him across Europe!!! The results speak for themselves; a more accomplished debut would be hard to find. Out on 10th February 2008 on her own label Maid In Sheffield, 'New Red Dress' is preceded by the single 'Copenhagen', out on 4th Feb. The UK's most listened to Breakfast Show host, Terry Wogan (Radio 2), is a fan, as is BBC 1's The One Show presenter Adrian Chiles, who invited Helen to perform on the show recently.
Heloise & The Savoir Faire
Only the second signing to Elijah Wood's new record label Simian Records, NYC electro-pop outfit Heloise & The Savoir Faire are set to break the mold in the UK, with their debut album, 'Trash, Rats & Microphones', set for release in April 2008, preceded by their debut single 'Odyle' in March. For a start, they've only attracted the attention of the most important female musical icon of our time, Debbie Harry, who they persuaded to perform on their album!!! The Graham Norton Show say the potential with a performance on the show early in 2007. Expect glama, drama and disco heaven in 2008.
Hello Saferide
Swedish collective, fronted by singer/songwriter and radio DJ, Annick Norlen. Their debut album, Introducing...Hello Saferide, with it's refreshingly sunny Scando-Motown vibes, received great reviews across Europe when it was released in 2006, but it has taken until May 2007 for her debut single 'I Was Definitely Made For These Times'/'The Quiz' to be released on Regal through Parlophone. 'I Was Definitely Made For These Times/The Quiz' made it into Dan Cairns Singles of the Year in Sunday Times Culture Magazine. Expect a brand new album in 2008.

The Hot Melts
For a seminal US punk label to pick up on a four piece from Liverpool would be credit enough, but when that label - Epitaph - offer you your very own imprint, Wonderland Records, as the start of a big commitment to discovering and developing British talent, you know you're doing something right. The Hot Melts are a new proposition in music; dense, hard-riffing US expansiveness of sound, with classic Britpop turn of phrase, their own brand of power pop-rock has already seen them build a healthy following thanks to a Nationwide tour of Carling Academy venues. Recording on their debut album begins in February, with an Autumn 08 release scheduled, though expect plenty of action before then.
Imogen Heap
One of the most prominent Myspace success stories, it was breaking free of the label system and going it alone with her own record label, Megaphonic, that lead to Imogen becoming one of the UK's most successful exports to the States last year. Having sold over 250,000 copies of her latest album 'Speak For Yourself' Stateside, Imogen has considerably more friends on the internet phenomenon than even Madonna has. Two sold-out tours of the UK and fantastic reviews for 'Speak For Yourself' has seen her UK fanbase swell as well. Currently recording a brand new album, expect new music to materialise in 2008.

Jem
Jem proved one of the breakthrough acts in the UK in 2005, with the release of her self-produced debut album 'Finally Woken', which sold in excess of half a million copies in the UK and earned her a Q Award nomination. After touring her debut worldwide through 2006, in 2007 Jem began work on the follow up album. Her second album sees her join forces with Jeff Bass (Eminem, 50 Cent) and Lester Mendez (Shakira, Nelly Furtado). The new album is big on sound; classic pop tracks with Jem's inimitable edge, and more than a few floor-fillers. Now labelmates in the States with Radiohead, expect her new album out through ATO in 2008.
Martin Grech
Releasing his third album at the still-tender age of 24, MARTIN GRECH has run the gammet of music industry experience and goes back to basics on his new album 'March Of The Lonely', out on 4th June. Released through his own label, Martin Grech Songs, the album is as remote and intriguing as the Osea Island on which it was recorded. Showcasing Grech's falsetto voice perfectly, it precipitates a move to Los Angeles, where Martin plans to form a band for the next release on his label.

Polly Paulusma
Christened the 'new Joni Mitchell' on release of her debut album Scissors In My Pocket in 2003, Polly ditched the acoustic guitar and inspired by Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young has made the electric album that was always screaming to get out. 'Fingers & Thumbs' is out on One Little Indian on 4th June. As sonically uplifting as it is lyrically dark, the new album is a captivating listen from one of the UK's most exciting female singer/songwriters.

Rose Kemp
Comparison to another West Country chauntuese, PJ Harvey, Bristol-based Rose Kemp picked up an amazing round of press reviews around the Jan 2007 release of her debut long-player A Hand Full Of Hurricanes, before supporting Juliette Lewis & The Licks in Europe, and headlining several sold-out club shows in London. New single 'Little One' is out on May 28th through One Little Indian. More dates shortly.

Stalkers
Time Out called their debut UK single release 'Let's Get It Together' their Single Of The Year by some margin...in March!!! After stomping UK performances, including the Reading and Leeds Festivals, Brooklyn punk rockers release their debut album 'Yesterday Is No Tomorrow' on One Little Indian on Jan 15th 2008.
State Radio
Winners of a Boston Music Award for Outstanding Live Performance in December 07 could give some indication as to why State Radio are currently creating a growing Stateside buzz. After supports with Coheed & Cambria and on the Warped Tour, State Radio regularly sell out 2,500+ capacity venues and boast huge Myspace popularity. Their secret? They're making US teens think and dance with their music. An intrinsic political message running through their songs (from crimes against humanity to war-profiteering and abuse of power by the US Government) the music isn't compromised by the message, with lead single 'Gang Of Thieves' marking one of the most exciting rock bands coming out of the States at present. Debut UK album release 'Year Of The Crow' is out on their own Ruff Shod Records on Feb 28th 08.
The Apples in Stereo
Having made quality records for over a decade now, the greatest purveyors of psychedelic power pop cut a break when Lord Of The Rings star Elijah Wood made them his first signing to his new record label, Simian Records (through Yep Roc). Their new album, New Magnetic Wonder, was out in March, and on May 21st they release their first single 'Energy', supported by their first UK tour in five years. There are plans to release a rarity & b-sides album from The Apples In Stereo through Simian/Yep Roc in 2008.

Both Lanegan and Dulli are currently putting the finishing touches to their collaborative album under the moniker The Gutter Twins which is expected to be released early in 2008.
Underground Railroad
"Paris punk trio UNDERGROUND RAILROAD relocated to London in 2006 to be closer to a thriving underground punk scene in the Capital, and find themselves forerunners alongside the likes of The Mighty Roars and The Noisettes. Underground Railroad continue to tour in 2008 in between writing their follow up album.
